Q: What is SnapCal?

SnapCal is an AI-powered food calorie recognition app. Take a photo of your meal, and AI will identify the food and estimate calories and nutritional content (protein, fat, carbs, fiber).

Q: How accurate is the calorie estimation?

AI analysis provides estimates based on image recognition. Actual values may vary depending on ingredients, cooking methods, and portion sizes. SnapCal should be used as a reference tool, not as a substitute for professional dietary advice.

Q: Is SnapCal a medical app?

No. SnapCal is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. If you have specific dietary needs or health conditions, please consult a healthcare professional.

Free Tier & Credits

Q: How many free scans do I get?

New users receive 3 free scans. After that, you can purchase credit packs or earn credits by watching rewarded video ads.

Q: What credit packs are available?

We offer 10, 30, and 80 credit packs. Each scan uses 1 credit. Credits are consumable and do not expire.

Q: Can I get a refund for purchased credits?

Refunds are handled by Apple. You can request a refund through the App Store or at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Privacy & Data

Q: Are my food photos stored on your servers?

No. Photos are sent to Google's Gemini API for analysis and immediately discarded. We do not store, log, or retain any photos on our servers.

Q: What HealthKit data does SnapCal access?

SnapCal reads calorie burn data from HealthKit in read-only mode. This data never leaves your device and is not shared with any third party.

Q: How do I delete my data?

All data is stored locally on your device. Simply uninstall the app to delete all data. There is no server-side data to delete since we don't store any personal information.

Q: Do I need to create an account?

No. SnapCal does not require any user account. All data is stored locally on your device.

Troubleshooting

Q: The AI didn't recognize my food correctly.

Try taking a clearer photo with better lighting. Make sure the food is clearly visible and centered in the frame. Complex dishes with multiple items may be harder to analyze accurately.

Q: The app is not working or showing errors.

Please try the following: (1) Make sure you have a stable internet connection. (2) Force-quit and reopen the app. (3) Update to the latest version from the App Store. (4) Restart your device. If the problem persists, contact us.

Q: I purchased credits but they didn't appear.

Please try restoring purchases from the app settings. If credits still don't appear, contact us with your Apple receipt details and we'll help resolve the issue.
